Electric car rebates available

The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, in partnership with the Ventura County Community Foundation, offers a Plug-in Electric Vehicle Rebate Program for Ventura County residents.

The program has been funded at $226,946 from the foundation’s Clean Air Fund and was approved by the Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board on June 20.

The rebate program will offer an incentive to car shoppers to buy or lease model year 2017 or newer plug-in electric vehicles in the county, with vouchers worth either $1,100 for plug-in hybrids or $2,200 for all-battery electric cars.

Electric vehicles qualifying for the rebate include all those listed on the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project website except hydrogen-powered vehicles and electric motorcycles. For more information, go to www.cleanvehiclerebate.org.

The California income limits will not apply to this rebate program. Instead, rebates will be limited to those vehicles with a base MSRP of no more than $75,000.

Reservations for rebates are required to ensure availability.

The reservations will expire eight weeks after they are issued.
